My Name is Vihanga Gamage. I’m a final year doctoral researcher at the TU Dublin School of Computer Science. My PhD project focusses on creating engaging virtual characters for use in serious games. My supervisors are Dr. Cathy Ennis and Dr. Robert Ross.
My research interests are primarily clustered around using Machine Learning and other AI techniques for controlling animated agents, human-computer interaction and technology-enhanced learning. I love all things computer science and enjoy dabbling with new things and ideas I find interesting.
I also dabble with competitive chess; i compete in occasional weekenders with widely varying results given my wild swings in form, and I play for the Dublin Chess Club in the Leinster Leagues. In my spare time, I also watch Formula One and football, and I fervently support Manchester United.
This collection of web pages will feature details and posts about my research and publications, a blog containing posts on thoughts and musings about a wide range of topics, and posts about how I get on with at chess.
